Our guide staff is led by Ivan Neymour, one of the first independent guides in the Bahamas. Ivan has been guiding on Andros for over 35 years. Ivan is also one of the first Bahamian guides to specialize in fly-fishing. The Tranquility guides understand that the most important element in any fly-fishing experience is to have a knowledgeable and friendly guide. They will greet you with an eager smile and can-do attitude the first day on the dock, and will make every effort to give you the type of fishing experience you most want. If you have any special fishing desires (you want to wade, fish for big bones, fish for tarpon, etc.), please tell you guide the morning of your first day. That way your guide can discuss the options with you based on current conditions, and then work your requests into his overall plan for your trip. |
Our guides are also patient instructors – coaching you as much, or as little, as you want. They can help to improve your casting, your stripping, hook setting technique and fish-fighting skills. Most importantly, our guides can really spot those ghostly bonefish, and then place you in position for an easy cast.
Normal fishing hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., however, according to the best tides, we are flexible. Whether the best tide is at dawn or late in the day, we can set you up to fish at the perfect time for those big ocean bones.
Because the tides enter and recede through the Bights, from east and west, there maybe simultaneous rising and falling tides throughout the day. This is a huge advantage Andros has over most other fishing grounds the world over. You can fish incoming, or falling tides, pretty much throughout the day, just take your pick.
You have the option to fish from a poled skiff, or by wadding. Most of our fishing is done from the skiffs, although there are some excellent wading areas, but these are more tide dependent. If you want to wade, please be sure to let your guide know first thing in the morning. Our guides fish from a variety of quality boats, ranging from Dolphin Super Skiff to Maverick Mirages. Due to the vastness of this fishing area, there are always lee flats where you can escape from the wind. (If you have the time, we highly recommend you practice your casting, in the wind, before arriving at the lodge.) |

Along with Ivan Neymour, our top guides include Ivan's son, Dwain, lodge co-owner and president Ray Mackey, Barry Neymour, Frankie Neymour, Deon Neymour, Ricardo Mackey and others. Andy Smith, Benry Smith, Charlie Neymour can work from Tranquility on special request. While all of our guides are excellent, we understand that anglers and guides develop special relationships over time, and we encourage these. If you have a favorite guide you would like to fish with, please let us know, and book as early in advance as possible. If the guide is available, we will reserve him for you.
Our in-house staff is headed by lodge manager, Kevin Rahming. Kevin will greet you on arrival and get you settled into your rooms. Kevin will also give you an orientation on the lodge routine, including times for meals, the bar honor system, procedures for making your fishing lunches, and procedures and times for meeting your guide. The kitchen is run by chef Kora Neymour and her staff. Kora prepares delicious homemade meals with a variety of seafood specialties. Her lobster in wine sauce is one of our favorites, though it's hard to beat her hog snapper and cracked conch. Portia Neymour is in charge of making up your rooms, and she and her staff will be happy to take care of your laundry. If anything in your room needs attention, please notify Bruhna immediately, and she'll take care of it.
Again, our motto, "We Aim to Please", is not just a saying. We want your trip to Tranquilitry to be memorable, and we hope to see you back again and again.
